Simple Solution for Artists

The extremely talented artist Ian Langdon came to me looking for a solution to quickly build an online presence for his art. He isn’t a web coder and was starting from scratch. He also didn’t want to use any text on the site. Every thing you see there is an image.

In one short session he was makeing his own pages and post, uploading his own images and managing his thumbnail galleries. This is a great example of the $200 small business web solution offer.

Recently it became apparent that to promote our shows I needed distribution platforms that I controled. Pages where I could place links and banners informing a targetted audience that self-generates. So I built a site template based on the wordpress default which is well suited to mobile devices as well as the web. The template allows for custom colours and backgrounds with dropshadow. The post pages check if there is a link from a video sharing site and inserts its embed code and other information. Posts can be made by users or feeds.

The sites will collect subscribers, inbound links and social networking traction. New feeds can be added in minutes and post can be made to stick to the top of the list. Supported by Wordpress 2.7.

Captain Euchre Website Design

My best wordpress site to date would be for Captain Euchre of my web series Tights and Fights. I wanted the site to be a little crazy, and had only limited photography to work with. I took this photo of Captain Euchre we took on one of the filming days. The photo had a shadow crossing the Captain which made the photos from that day troublesome, but I was able to use it here. The site uses wordpress page templates to display different category orderings (eg. “Most Recent” “From the Beginning” “Featured Episodes”). You can flow through these posts as you watch them or hop to a particular episode with the far left sidebar. The white spots in the picture are additional YouTube players.

The site has a video focus, articles, a strong theme, useful information and above all free entertainment. Check out the site www.captaineuchre.com
