Christopher Guest - Producer

Really this entire site is my portfolio, but I wanted to highlight some areas were I excel.  There are four sections to my portfolio; Video, Sound and Music, Photography and Writing.

As you can see I bring all the skills of a web and new media professional to the table, and will be easily able to pick up projects at any stage.  This eclectic skill set is further enhanced by a solid understanding of the multiplatform space and internet marketing.

In the late nineties it was obvious to anyone involved in short film and video production that there was a revolution on the horizon. Since then Christopher has been building the skills needed to be on the forefront of internet and multiplatform video. With a focus on fiction based comedy, he has produced 5 series totaling 77 episodes. But it all started with The Retired Porn Producer. This series was produced and animated by Christopher, and written and voiced by Scott Albert.

With aspirations to progress to larger projects, Scott and Christopher form a production arrangement with director Christopher Forrest and writer Josh Budd to produce Team Leader. This 12 part series follows the lives to two mid 20’s slackers who have to pick up the pieces after the untimely death of their Team Leader.

Finding Team Leader to be more expensive than the immediate market could support Scott and Christopher shifted their production to a high volume yet contained series Tights and Fights. This open ended series stars a cast of lovable yet misguided superheroes who share their deepest thoughts and confessions on a web cam.

In 2000, Christopher Guest graduated from the University of Alberta where he studied music composition. His honours thesis explored the relationship between music and sound effects in Science Fiction films and television.

The one thing you can’t avoid when working online is Copy Writing.  Every page needs a summary, every video needs metadata.  Then there are keywords, alt, image and anchor text, all are so important for SEO (Search Engine Optimization).  But internet marketing is about controlling expectation in your message.  The right message will bring happy customers to your site, the wrong message can be costly.  Take Adwords for example.  The right title and ad copy can bring in exactly the right audience for your content, but a poorly written and targeted ad ring up a hefty bill without converting any sales at all.

The internet takes copy writing to a whole new level of marketing strategically.  Christopher has studied the ins and outs of organic and paid advertising online and has developed a keen sense of internet copy writing.
